In Autumn 2025, from October 18th to 25th, my Warsaw Music Foundation organized orchestra workshop for students of Secondary Music Schools from Nowy Targ and Cracow.
The workshop was crowned with the symphonic concert in the Concert Aula of the Secondary Music School in Nowy Targ. The workshop participants performed under the newly established name The Young Podhale Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert was conducted by me and the soloist was Bartosz Wątroba (the student of the piano class of Professor Olga Łazarska).
The education of young musicians through orchestral performances is a really essential element of music school curriculum. It is also an absolutely indispensable prerequisite for working as an instrumentalist.
Because I myself had been the student of Secondary Music Schools in Nowy Targ and Cracow, and as a teenage violinist I had opportunity to play with several renowned orchestras, I also wanted to make my contribution to the process of training these young, very talented students to work in an orchestra. I was really surprised by their professional, disciplined, and musically engaged attitude towards the rehearsals and the concert.
I also have one more crucial youthful memory connected with the Frederic Chopin Secondary Music School in Nowy Targ. It was at this school that I conducted an orchestra for the first time, because I had to replace my father Stanisław Czepiel during one of the orchestral rehearsals. For sure it influenced my future choice of the profession of conductor.
The workshop had been organized thanks to financial support provided by the Complex of Hydropower Plants in Niedzica (ZEW Niedzica S.A.), for which I am grateful on my behalf as well as on behalf of the young people who took part in the workshop.
