Lublin Philharmonic

On 21st November 2025 the Concert Hall of the Lublin Philharmonic hosted a concert which celebrated the 75 years of Medical University in Lublin. The concert’s programme consisted of the compositions of Jakub Polaczyk – a Polish-American composer working in New York.

During the concert the listeners had the occassion to encounter a new music piece, composed by Jakub Polaczyk uniquely for the University’s jubilee: the Symphony A.D. 2025 Medical for choir and symphonic orchestra. The work turned out to be very intriguing and impressive. We had a real pleasure preparing the world premiere of this composition.

It is important to note that the Symphony had been commissioned by the Medical University of Lublin itself. It is an excellent example that new compositions do not have to be commissioned only by music institutions. It turned out that the Medical University wanted to celebrate its beautiful jubilee with a huge contemporary music work which was inspired by important medical discoveries from world history.

The Symphony met an enthusiastic ovation of the audience. It was performed under my direction by the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra and by the Choir of the Medical University in Lublin which had been prepared by Professor Monika Mielko-Remiszewska.

Besides the newly composed Symphony, we played very interesting pieces for piano and string orchestra, and during our performance the composer Jakub Polaczyk himself was the soloist. The compositions were: American blue horses, Flemish Wind, and Green Bulgatti Tango.
